On the 28th and 29th of November, Shabbat Vayetze, our community came together for a truly memorable event - Shabbat in the Shtetel. The atmosphere throughout the weekend was filled with warmth, zmirot, connection, and genuine joy.
We began on Friday evening, 28th November, with a beautiful and spirited Kabbalat Shabbat lead by Rabbi Menasche Scharf. We were honoured to be joined by the Travelling Chassidim, whose uplifting davening and heartfelt energy transformed the shul into a mini-shtetel of its own and enhanced the beauty of Shabbat.
Following the service, everyone gathered for a Friday night dinner that brought together both regular attendees and new faces. We were delighted to host visitors from France, whose presence added an international flavour and extra warmth to the evening. Conversations flowed, Shabbat songs were shared, and the sense of unity was truly felt around the table.
Shabbat Day: A lively and Delicious Community Kiddush
The celebrations continued on Shabbat morning, 29th November, with a wonderful, spirited service followed by a meaty kiddush that people are still talking about. The highlight was our meat-grazing table - beautifully presented (by me!) and generously stocked - which drew plenty of admiration (and full plates!).
The atmosphere was lively, fun, and filled with the kind of buzz that only a strong, connected community can create!
Shabbat in the Shtetel reminded us of the power of community, essence of Shabbat, shared meals, and tradition. Thank you to everyone who joined, participated, helped to organise, or simply added their presence to the event.
We look forward to many more uplifting Shabbatot together!
